假山石，即太湖石。是一种石灰岩，有水、旱两种，形状各异，姿态万千，通灵剔透的太湖石，以“皱、漏、瘦、透”为美，其色泽以白石为多，少有青黑石、黄石，尤其黄色的更为稀少。有很高的观赏价值。前人论及假山石，最能言其本：“石本无性，采后复生”。
Rockery is Taihu stone. It is a kind of limestone, which has two kinds of water and drought, different shapes and thousands of postures. The Taihu stone is smart and transparent. It is beautiful for "wrinkle, leakage, thin and transparent". Its color is white stone, and there are few Turquoise and Yellowstone, especially the yellow one. It has high ornamental value. Previous scholars have talked about rockery, the most able to say its origin: "stone is asexual, and can be recovered after mining.".
